Chile experienced record breaking Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in 2012. The substantial US$26.4 billion inflow in 2012, shows that Chile remains one of international investor’s favorite locations in Latin America. This figure represents a 52.7 percent increase over 2011, and places Chile at number 7 for highest FDI growth rate in the world, and the 2nd highest FDI in Latin America. Globally, FDI flows fell by about 18%, due to fragility of the European and US economies. The outlook for 2013 is optimistic for Chile’s FDI, but projects a complex year overall for the international economy.
